Field Not Recognized

The GDA sent a reconciliation query eight days after the July audit went in. I did not expect a reply. I have submitted three invented categories since March — Inactive — Reserved, Pending — Dimensional Operations, PENDING — UNASSIGNED — and the system has swallowed all of them without comment. Software does not usually push back.

This one did.

Subject line: Supplemental Comments Field — Value Not Recognized. RE-08. The message asked me to select from the standard drop-down instead: Assigned, Unassigned, Decommissioned, Under Review. It did not ask me which one I meant. It asked me to pick.

I looked at the four options for eleven minutes, which is a long time to look at a drop-down.

Assigned implies a name. There is no name. Unassigned implies nobody is coming, which is not what pending means, not to me. Decommissioned is for lockers that no longer exist, and this one very much exists, empty, at the end of row two, third from the wall vent that never fully closes. Under Review implies someone is reviewing it. Nobody is reviewing it. I am the only one who opens that row.

I selected Under Review. It was the closest lie the form would let me tell.

Then I went back into the supplemental comments field — still there, still not part of the official schema, a leftover text box from before the current form version — and wrote PENDING — UNASSIGNED again, in full, underneath the drop-down's answer. Two answers for one locker. The system accepted it. It does not appear to reconcile the two.

It is Thursday, not Tuesday, which is not usually when I do this kind of thing. But the query carried a five-day response window and today was the fourth day.

Rae's jacket form is unchanged. Third checkbox, same as July, same as March. I read it again anyway, out of habit more than expectation.

The fifth mug has not moved. Day forty-one. Nobody has opened the cabinet since I closed it in July, as far as I can tell from the dust line, which is not a scientific instrument but has not lied to me yet.

I filed the reconciliation. The locker remains, on paper, both under review and pending unassigned, which is either an error the GDA will eventually correct or the only honest description currently available. I am inclined to let it stand until someone tells me otherwise.
